From time to time I sell flowers on a stall outside my house, using any materials I have left over or that I have grown in my garden. This is on a first come first served basis, it's always worth ringing ahead to check availability, to avoid a wasted journey.

At the moment there is just me, which means you get a really personal experience. I recognise most of my customers and am happy to say I've had a number of returning customers. It's definitely about more than just the flowers. When you buy from Behind Every Bouquet you become part of the family.

I grew up smelling the roses in my Granny's garden and I have been hooked ever since.

​

After having children I decided to apply for a job at the local garden centre (Newstead Nurseries) where I continued to increase my existing plant knowledge. Whilst there I started a small cut flower garden at my mum's house and from there decided I wanted to pursue a career in floristry and flower farming. So I left my job and went back to college. I have worked in several different shops since to gain experience before setting up my own business. 

I chose the name Behind Every Bouquet because, to me, it represents the story and emotion that goes into each and every bunch of flowers. There is always a reason you send flowers. You might want to tell someone you love them, you might want to comfort someone at a time of loss. Congratulate someone on a job well done. Whatever the reason, it's personal and it is such a privilege for me to be a part of that process. 

The name also felt fitting as there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to get your flowers to you and I put my heart and soul into everything I do. Floristry is far from just faffing with flowers. As a trained professional you are taught to consider what colours complement one another, how to care for your plants and flowers to ensure they last as long as possible, as well as various skills and techniques to make each bouquet go from ordinary to extraordinary. You can rest assured knowing that if you buy from Behind Every Bouquet your blooms will be beautiful. Each and every design is as important to me, as it is to you. I buy only the best quality flowers and foliage from the wholesalers and where possible grow as much as I can right here in Ryhill, West Yorkshire.
